Q & A

Get to Know Rachel

How would you describe your style?

I would describe it as Funky Chic. I love anything considered loud or outlandish like giant polkadots or bright colors! I love the prints of the 60s and 70s. Fun patterns and materials are totally my thing.

WHAT'S BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CAREER THUS FAR?

It's hard to pick a highlight because I'm so grateful for all that I've gotten to do. But working closely with Quentin Tarantino and Margot Robbie has to be at the top, because I mean, COME ON! It's so cool and I still pinch myself.

How has access to fashion/evolution of inclusive fashion impacted your own personal style?

I transitioned to plus size while in college. My style didn't change, but suddenly the things I could wear did, because they didn't come in my size. I'm so happy to see plus size fashion become more accessible because it's a big part of how I express myself and not having that in college was really hard. Though I like to think I've made pajamas a fashion statement.

What do you want to see from fashion in the next 5 years?

Plus size people shouldn't have to diet or dull their sense of fashion because stuff isn't made in their size. I want to stop crying in dressing rooms because I found the perfect outfit that only fits my thigh. I want to strip the "plus" section away. Why should I have to shop in a different area than my petite friends? I want the racks to hold inclusive sizing in all stores.

What do you love about 11 Honoré | Dia&Co integrating and becoming the premier destination for plus fashion?

Honestly, I feel saved. I feel heard and seen and so so grateful to find my style in my size.

What outfit makes you feel the most powerful and how does a great outfit make you feel?

I would have to pick this two piece matching outfit I have. The print is purple roses, but the top is mesh and the pants are silk. It makes me feel strong and like a boss. I love strutting through the streets of NY in it because I know how good I look! Anything with pants makes me feel powerful and comfortable. I love a jumpsuit, a suit suit, and even a sexy onesie. And I always have to accessorize with sparkles.

Is there a brand/style you'd love to wear that doesn't exist yet in plus?

Yes. I really love Alice and Olivia but haven't been able to rock their stuff yet.

Name three of your favorite brands.

Betsy Johnson, City Chic, BP by Nordstrom, and, of course, 11 Honoré!

What are you excited to add to your wardrobe this year?

I'd love some fun staple accessories! Like a fun cardigan, maybe a wacky bucket hat, some more funky pants (the Macy Wide Leg Pant in Jasmine Green has been on my list) maybe even a fluffy boa! I also want to experiment with cuts. I have the Diana Cutout Top and I'm obsessed with it. I'd love an asymmetrical skirt, or a shirt with a heart cutout in the cleavage area.  I just moved to NY from sunny CA so I definitely have to upgrade my winter wardrobe.

Any Other Fun Facts?

In 6th grade, I won a Radio Disney Grand Prize! I got to go to the American Music Awards and meet all my favorite celebs!

I'm a natural blonde but I've been pulling off the red for over 10 years now.

I have an alter ego puppet named Rachel Too.

Zac Efron and I are in love (even if he doesn't know it) and our celeb couple name Zachel Dashleyander Redfron.

I sang and danced in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade for 3 different years when I was a kid.

My favorite color is sparkly pink and I used to have a pink car named Ken.

Is there a charity you'd like to spotlight?

About 6 years ago, I lost my beautiful Godbrother Zachary to mental illness. He was the most kindhearted and giving person I ever met. He gave to every homeless person he saw, cared for every animal he ever encountered, and constantly asked about people's well being. There is a wonderful charity called Kid In The Corner built to honor his legacy and I am proud to be a founding member. Kid In The Corner promotes kindness, inclusivity, anti bullying, and taking care of your mental health. It teaches youth to always reach out to the kid in the corner and remember that you are not alone.
